When Christmas season approaches, it has become a practice in the Philippines (and well, around the world too!) for homes to be decorated with holiday ornaments. At present, public places such as malls, offices, and outdoor parks have also already adapted this custom.
Even hotels and resorts joined the bandwagon too! But I’m not complaining. Because in times like this, “the more, the merrier” is best applied!
I came up with a list of the Christmas Trees I’ve seen around Metro Cebu this month and thought it would be nice to share it to the rest of the world! So here you go~
It’s a colorful holiday for J Centre Mall in Mandaue City as they displayed a tree with multi-colored ornaments in time for their 6th anniversary celebration. The tree is located at the smaller atrium (ground floor) towards the back of the mall whilst at the main event center, they have garden-themed decors dangling from the ceiling. Don’t forget to swing by the 2nd floor — there’s another Christmas tree – and a gingerbread house worth checking too!
A giant European fir tree stands tall at the main atrium of Robinson’s Galleria Cebu. It’s mostly made up of cool white LED lights with minimal ornaments. It’s a breath of fresh air to see a tree of this kind, as most of the malls often put the traditional green one. You may also want to check their Festival of Trees at the 2nd floor where they’ve displayed even more non-traditional holiday trees made by various organizations in town.
Ayala Center Cebu displayed a very elegant Christmas tree at The Gallery. It features silver ornaments (with very intricate details, if I may add!) with bits and pieces of gold. It’s a very lovely tree befitting the image and ambiance of the new wing. The mall also has their annual outdoor lights and sounds show at The Terraces plus the light display at the dome in the main mall.
Elsa and Olaf of Frozen is in town for the holidays as both SM City Consolacion and SM City Cebu took inspiration for their Christmas trees from this Disney movie. Kids and the kids-at-heart will definitely love to have their photos taken beside the character pop-ups of Frozen cast. SM City Cebu also has their Christmas Village of Hope this year at the Northwing.
For this year, SM Seaside City Cebu is bringing on the holidays cheers with their Razzle-Dazzle Christmas by putting a giant tree on top of a carousel. It’s a rehash from what they had last year by changing the colors to white and gold. They also have a Disney corner in Seaview Wing (ground floor) wherein they featured a pop-up storybook of Mickey and Minnie.
So there you go! The next time you visit these malls, don’t forget to check out their Christmas centrepieces! They’re the perfect photo spots for those #MerryChristmas and #HappyHolidays hashtags. *wink wink*
Stay tuned to the part 2 of this post as I will be featuring the holiday decors of hotels and resorts in Cebu!
